From a few weeks ago: Manatee Mom & Calf, part of a manatee population that lives permanently in the Santa Fe River and occasionally swims into the Ichetucknee for food and shelter. It was a frigid day by Florida standards (36F) when I made this photo, and these charismatic animals seemed to be enjoying the relatively warmth of the river and abundant food. Close up of the Scalloped Ribbonfish, Zu cristatus, from Monday night’s blackwater dive. If this little fella is lucky it’ll reach more than one meter in length and swim vertically up and down the water column feeding and doing what Ribbonfish like to do (They’re so secretive nobody really knows). My first Ribbonfish, photographed last night during an incredible blackwater dive offshore Palm Beach, FL on Walkers Dive Charters.
